  • Swimming Australia Accredited Coach – Formal qualification in competitive swimming coaching, focused on technique, progression, and performance.

  • Early Competitive Swimming Coaching – Supported Victorian clubs in his youth including Cheltenham Swimming Club, Bayside Swimming Club, and Shayne Reese Swimming. This hands-on experience during his university studies in Nursing & Paramedicine built his foundation in nurturing swimmers from juniors through to competitive levels.

  • Elite Pool Athlete Success – As Director of Sport & Head Coach (Pool) at Mordialloc Life Saving Club, Aaron designed periodised programs emphasising swimming technique, speed, endurance, and race preparation. Highlights include:

    • Coached the Australian Lifesaving Team (ALT) pathways team in 2025, applying sports science, data-driven strategies, and multidisciplinary support during international competition.

    • Primary coach for six athletes selected to the Australian national team at the 2025 RLSS Commonwealth Championships in Wales, where one of his swimmers broke a Commonwealth record, and all medalled in high-stakes pool events.

    • Leading Mordialloc to 3rd overall in Australia at the 2024/25 SLSA Pool Rescue Championships; the highest placing ever for a Victorian club/team.

    • Annually Coached Victorian State and Development Teams.

  • State & Board Leadership — Appointed as a member of Life Saving Victorias Sport Executive Board, during which actively grew participation by 45.5% and was the driving force behind the development of policies, procedures and practices that encouraged inclusivity, diversity, transparency and a grass roots to high-performance culture.

  • Safety & Education Backbone — Aaron holds an array of qualifications, as a Registered Nurse (Bachelor of Paramedicine & Nursing, 2018), Pool Lifeguard, Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety, Advanced First Aid & Resuscitation Techniques. His background at the Royal Children's Hospital (Melbourne) as a nurse working across adolescent medicine, oncology and adolescent mental health adds to his expertise in athlete wellbeing, especially for young people. Which he has extended into his roles within Nursing & Allied Health departments across the TAFE & University sector in Victoria, from teaching to course development; ensuring a modern, safe & evidence-based delivery model.

Aaron's career shows a clear passion for the pool, from grassroots swimming support to coaching medal-winning international athletes in demanding aquatic disciplines. He's committed to clear pathways, technical excellence, and a positive, inclusive environment where every Flyer can thrive, whether building basics or chasing PBs.

Aaron has already started on deck and was able to coordinate a generous time period for a smooth hand over from Julie as she steps into retirement. Please feel free to approach Aaron regarding any questions, queries, suggestions or concerns you may have.

Let's give him a massive Flyers welcome!
